QFX is a complete archive: documents filed into collections with their own index fields, stored on the storage locations you register, searched through the API or the browser, governed by the roles and permissions you define, and kept for as long as your retention rules require.

What QFX does.
Collections and indexes
Group documents by type, each collection with its own searchable index fields. Indexes can be shared between collections, so one search can span several.
Search
Search one collection or every collection a user may access, on text, number, date and list fields, with text found regardless of case and accents, and paging built for large result sets.
Storage locations
Keep documents on S3 (including buckets with Object Lock), SFTP or NFS. Assign locations per collection, and lock a location to stop new writes.
Batch imports
Import thousands of documents with their metadata from an SFTP location. Any import can run as a dry run first, and report back to your systems when it finishes.
Roles and permissions
Single sign-on through OpenID Connect. Permissions per operation, grouped in roles mapped to your identity provider, with safeguards against locking yourself out.
Audit logging
Every action produces an audit record: who did what, to which object, when, and with what outcome, written to the log or sent to your own audit service.
Web interface
A Search section for every user and an Administrator section for storage, assignments, roles, permissions, imports, queues and health checks.
Open, documented API
A REST API described by an OpenAPI specification, for your applications, integrations and migrations. No proprietary client required.
Records management.
How long each record is kept, when it may be destroyed, when it must not be, and how it is handed over.
Series
Saved searches across one or more collections, evaluated whenever they are used. A series sets the scope of retention schedules, legal holds and exports.
Retention schedules
Retention and disposition policies applied to a series: how long its documents are kept, counted from creation or from a date field, and whether they are destroyed or transferred when retention ends.
Legal holds
Lock a series, a collection or a single document against deletion, disposition and changes to its content, with a reason, until the hold is lifted. Under GDPR, this is how records needed for a legal claim are kept despite an erasure request.
Exports
Hand over the documents of a series to a registered storage location, with a notification when the export is done. This is how you answer a GDPR access or portability request, or deliver records for an audit.
Previews
Previews and thumbnails of a document, a collection or a series, to see a document without retrieving it in full.
Document life cycle
Soft delete with undelete, hard delete that removes the stored document as well, and comments on documents, all governed by permissions.
Architecture
Stateless services on your platform, your data where you put it.
QFX is a set of small, stateless services deployed with Helm charts. Documents are written asynchronously through a message queue and are available for retrieval and search the moment they are created. Replicas scale out independently, and failed messages can be inspected and replayed from the administrator interface.
Requirements
What you need to run QFX.
- Kubernetes 1.33 or later, including Red Hat OpenShift and SUSE Rancher
- An Oracle or PostgreSQL database
- An identity provider (OpenID Connect) such as Keycloak and Okta, which can connect to your existing directory
- An S3-compatible storage location for documents; SFTP and NFS locations alongside it
QFX is delivered as container images and Helm charts, with full installation and configuration documentation.
Editions
Standard and Extended.
QFX Standard Edition is the complete archive: collections and indexes, search, storage locations, batch imports, roles and permissions, audit logging and the document life cycle, with its API and its web interface.
QFX Extended Edition adds series (saved searches across collections), retention schedules, legal holds, previews and exports, for organizations that manage the full records life cycle in QFX.
